Budgeted time: 35 hours
-carrier: 15
-labels: 11
-branding ad: 8
Time I actually spent: 30 (a little under budget, but I spent probably the extra five hours telling everyone how awesome it was to be an art major because I had to drink beer for a project! Man our teachers are so cool!!)
-carrier: 13 (2 were spent mocking up...so many lines to cut out!!)
-labels: 9 (time spent complaining about how I almost chopped off my finger: all night haha I'm a brat!) and it took me an hour to paint the lids, and the labels didn't want to stay attached, I probably should have used thinner paper, but after I spent money printing, I didn't want to redo it...broke college student problems!
-branding ad: 8 (I played with merging layers in Photoshop for entirely too long..also, tracing that little flourish at the bottom too me for.ev.er)
Budgeted: 16 hours
Book Jacket: 4
CD/Audio Book Packaging: 10
iTunes/iBook Cover Art: 2
Actual: 18.5
Book Jacket: 6 (It took me so long to finally get something good, I think it was because it was earlier in the semester, so I wasn't feeling super creative or confident about my abilities yet, plus it's always hard to start on a fresh project)
CD/Audio Book Packaging: 11 (mockups took awhile on this one, and similar to the jacket, I had trouble getting the ball rolling and approved!)
iTunes/iBook Cover Art: 1.5

Budgeted: 9 hours
Actual: 11 hours (I had to chop up and prepare food, to photograph it..and then of course eat! but I just couldn't figure out the layout for the life of me. After harassing Rusty with this one every class period for a week and a half, I got my little red ok!)
Budgeted: 9 hours
Actual: 16 hours (It's funny to look back and see old versions of this..now it looks great and this is one of my favorites, but the layout was not working in my favor. It should have so obviously been set up like this in the first place, but I have a really big problem with hindsight and envisioning the way things will work out.. Five of the sixteen hours were spent trying to package this one to turn in as my two-color job. I eventually got defeated and used another one. There was a process black hidden somewhere in here. I quintuple checked, made Annie check, Google searched all sorts of crazy things, but could not find it...what did people do before Google?! It's probably some tiny weird stroke on one little letter or something, but I know a lot of cool new InDesign features now!)

Budgeted: 16 hours
Actual: 13 hours (I'm not sure why this type is here, not down there, but I'm not very good at this blog thing! Anywhozers, this project was a pain in my behind. I haven't taken Illustration yet, so I felt like I was kind of at a disadvantage. The most time consuming things were: illustrating, laying out the type, and packaging - oh and figuring out spot colors!)

Budgeted: 9 hours
Actual: 9 hours (Now see, why is this type down here, but Society of Illustrators was wonky? WhAtEvZ. Going crazi. I don't know why that cupcake picture keeps being lame, but I'm going to try and fix that! Similar to my How Safe? project, I couldn't envision the type. I finally looked to real magazines for layout inspirations. And of course eating the food and photographing it was SUPPPPPEEERRRR time consuming ;) [my major is super crazy] the food spreads were crazy. Wordy and then no words at all. Finally learning how to address all of the space, and I shouldn't be afraid of negative space.)
This is all stuff from pre-midterm, but they were my favorites. I didn't rework anything, but these were the ones I liked the best!:
Total Semester Budget: 290 hours (I think that's what it was...whatever the number, it was insanely high)
Actual: 251.5 (That seems way low, but since I cut HOW Design out so early and that was 30 hours.......I'm glad this semester is over! Now on to Stats studying.....SUMMER IS SO CLOSEEEEEEEEEE YOLO..)
